Hey everyone, I’ve been learning about DeFi swaps lately, and something keeps confusing me. I tried doing a few small token exchanges just to practice, and I noticed the final amount I received was always slightly different from what I expected from the price chart. At first I thought it was a mistake or delay, but it seems to happen consistently depending on the trade. I also had a situation where I swapped a token during a calm market period, and still got a slightly different result than I planned. So I’m trying to understand — is this normal slippage behavior, or am I missing some deeper mechanics behind how these swaps actually execute in real time? I’ve also been checking tools like https://metadogeswap.com/ to better understand how swaps behave in practice, but I’m still trying to connect everything together.

I don’t actively trade anymore, but I still find these discussions interesting because they show how people gradually figure out complex systems. A few years ago I also got confused by similar things in other financial tools outside crypto, where the final result didn’t always match what I expected at first glance. Over time I realized that almost every system involving automated execution has small differences between “expected” and “real” outcomes. Now I mostly just read threads like this to see how others are learning and interpreting these mechanics in their own way.
